Court Proceedings

Pursuing a debt - the next stages.

Issuing a claim

This is the next step after sending a Letter Before Action. Issuing a claim requires the debtor to respond within 14 days of being served with proceedings to avoid judgment being entered against them.

We charge only the fixed fee allowed by the court, which is £50-£100 (plus VAT) depending on the size of the debt. This is recoverable from the debtor.

There is a court fee payable for issuing a claim, depending on the amount of the claim and fees start at £35.

Undisputed claims

In most of the cases we deal with the debtors make payment at this stage. In the event that the debtor fails to respond to the issue of a claim we will request that the court enters a CCJ against them.
